Testing methods of three proofing finishing of textiles

Jun 01,2021 / Company News

The three proofing test of textiles mainly assesses the ability of textiles to resist water, dirt or oil drops and dirt under certain conditions. The common oil repellent test is also a kind of pollution repellent test.
Water resistance
The dynamic water resistance of fabrics was determined according to AATCC 22 "testing and evaluation of water resistance of Textiles - water staining method". The standard methods of GB / T 4745 and ISO 4920 are basically the same as those of AATCC 22. The fabric sample after water and oil proofing treatment is fixed on a metal ring with a diameter of about 150 mm and placed on an inclined 45 ° Corner of the mount. Pour 250 ml of water quickly from the glass funnel above the sample to ensure that the natural spraying is completed within 25-30 s. Remove the fixing ring, gently tap the fabric face down horizontally, observe the wetting condition of the sample surface, and evaluate the waterproof value.
Oil proof
According to AATCC 118, GB / T 19977 and ISO 14419 are basically the same, "oil drainage: hydrocarbon resistance test" is used to determine the oil resistance of fabrics. Eight kinds of homologous solvents with gradually decreasing surface tension were used as standard solutions, and different grades of test drops were applied on the finished fabric surface to observe the surface wetting after 30 seconds. If the final test solution does not wet the fabric, the grade is the oil proof grade of the fabric. Level 1 is the worst and level 8 is the best.
